Acupuncture works by the insertion of ultra-thin needles at various acupuncture points on the body to help regulate the flow of energy (Qi) and blood. It activates the body's own healing system to help the body restore its balance.
When the body's systems are balanced and the flow of Qi and blood is smooth, aches and pains may be minimized or eliminated to maintain a healthy well being.

Qi is a Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) term used to represent a vital energy that sustains all living things of all sizes and forms. In TCM, Qi is a mixture of food, air and inherited constitution, all combined together to form vital energy that fuels the body to perform its daily functions. This vital energy, or Qi, flows inside the body through the meridians to energize and nourish every cell, tissue, muscle and organ in our body, very much like water flowing in the river to sustain life on earth.
The effects of unhealthy lifestyle, stress, bad habits and the environment can often disrupt the flow of Qi and cause blockages in the meridians, making the body more susceptible to pain, disease and illness. Therefore, a smooth flow of Qi is necessary for the maintenance of good health.
